For years I have taken my Hondas to the dealer for repairs and routine service. Because of high costs and recent poor quality workmanship and attention to detail I have been looking for an alternative. In the last year I have taken my vehicles to the four most highly rated shops in Terre Haute including Finzel’s. In the case of two I had to return because of errors in workmanship, major in one case. Another provided excellent service and a thorough inspection of the entire vehicle but the price was close to dealer pricing. My 2000 Odyssey needed a timing belt and water pump replacement. I got estimates from the dealer, two of the above mentioned shops, and Finzel’s. The Finzel estimate was 18% less than the dealer and 10-15% less than the others. I had the repair done at Finzel’s and even after having to replace the serpentine and power steering drive belt as well as the timing belt and water pump the total charge was 10-16% less than the other estimates for the timing belt and water pump alone. In addition I was given a new customer 20% discount on labor which reduced the cost by an additional $105 (10%). They performed a very thorough inspection of all the systems of the vehicle and provided a digital report which included photographs. Several issues requiring attention were identified with photographs but there was no “hard sell” to have additional work done. The staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. Overall, it has been my best experience with an automobile repair service in 30 years. I recommend them highly.
